Core Values

01
Lead with connection

The desire to make ‘good’ the norm is what got us started. Our connection to artisans, each other and our ‘why’ keep us going.  As a community, each decision, idea, and action impact on each other and the world we share.

02
Define the details

Every member of our team contributes to the strength, beauty, and impact of what we do. We ensure each person’s role is defined, and the impact of their responsibilities within our company is understood.

03
Ask & appreciate

We ask for help when we need it because nobody has the smarts or bandwidth to solve every problem under the sun. Team members are encouraged to share their own experiences in order to create a process that is inclusive and beneficial for all. We regularly and effectively express our care and gratitude for others.

04
Stay dynamic

Reviewing and reflecting on the impact of our work is a core part of how we grow as an organization. We recap at the end of a project or initiative to document what we want to start, stop, and continue doing as we move forward. There’s always something we can learn from our work, so we don’t waste the opportunity to improve at every stage.

05
Bias toward action

Intent without meaningful action is just a good idea. We’ve got a big mission and need everyone driving the cause forward. We roll up our sleeves to get the job done, even if it’s not YOUR job. Being willing to raise your hand to tackle a new project or task may be what it takes, and the end result is well worth the hustle.

06
Progress over perfection

We believe intentional everyday actions are the way to build life-long change. We are not an overnight success but rather, taking responsibility for our own efforts and the things we can control to help achieve impact. New ideas are tested in fast, low-cost scenarios that let us learn quickly, so we don’t get bogged down in details that don’t matter to the big picture.

07
Deliver on promises

We make clear commitments to our partners, vendors, customers, and team. We communicate early if a promise may be at risk, and never commit to something we can’t deliver. If something does miss the mark, we take accountability for our mistakes and lead by example. We identify who missed what in breakdowns and determine what we will do differently moving forward.

08
Communicate. Communicate. Communicate.

We share plans and requests clearly and effectively, always checking for understanding to ensure all parties are on the same page about expectations, including deadlines and urgency. We never assume that something unspoken is understood, and take the time to confirm that everyone involved in a project is aligned.

09
Raise our hand

We speak up when we see someone who needs help. Both as individuals and as an organization, we develop, share, and continually iterate our methods in real-time to make sure we aren’t missing anything. Resources, tools, and suggestions exist to be shared, and our efficiency improves when everyone knows they have permission to contribute to our shared understanding,

10
Innovate together

We challenge ourselves every quarter to identify and experiment with potential innovations. We’ve never seen tens of thousands of people in rural areas create a powerful human-powered supply chain with a double bottom line that transforms the futures of families in rural areas across Africa, so some of the paths will feel new along the way. Success over time requires us to think differently, come up with creative approaches, and collaborate.

"We partner with All Across Africa because we believe the beautiful work of world artisans should be cherished and the joyful stories behind the weavers be told. In collaboration with All Across Africa, these artisans are empowered to pay school fees, gain access to safe housing, food and healthcare and to save for their future and family. We’re so proud to stand behind the opportunities that All Across Africa brings to each individual craftsperson."
